Hurray! Grandma & Grandpa are here!
On our way down to Cape Hatteras at a rest
stop we saw this tour trailer. Alan danced back and forth trying not to
wet his pants in excitement over meeting Kelly Slater (The Best Surfer in the
World). He sent his mom over to see if Kelly was actually on board.
He was not. ![]()
Sasha shows off one of the shells she finds
on the beach at Alan's Secret Spot on Pea Island.
Seeing tender fresh baby flesh on the beach, the Sea Raptors close in.
Little does Sasha know that her young life was spared by the quick toss of a well-timed goldfish cracker.
She promised to be more vigilant in the
future, but she was a busy baby.
"This sand isn't gonna move itself."
Sasha decides that it would be more fun to take her sand and move it onto the blanket where it's softer.
Grandma & Sasha embark on a Shell Hunt.
Once Grandma & Grandpa were far
enough away from the blanket we made fun of Grandpa
for the silly windbreaker that he had tied up over his head.
Sasha said: "It's like taking Michael Jackson to the beach!"
When he returned from his walk, Admiral Byrd had no idea we were laughing at him, not with him.
It was a great day down on the beach. The water's still too cold to really swim in it....
...But with all the sand castle work sasha had to do, it was probably just as well.
Work paused for a moment while a silly crab tried to assert his territory.
Grandma returns from her Shell Collecting and shares her bounty with Sasha.
Sasha is amused by the shells,
but after a quick glance at Grandma's watch, realizes that there is still much
work to do.
Like an Egyptian Pharaoh, Sasha forces Grandma to build castles,
in her honor,
which she either approves of or
stomps in anger.
Grandma finally makes a couple that meet with the little despot's approval.
Then we all went to Goombays for Fish Tacos. Yummy!
On the way home Daddy introduces Sasha to
what he calls, "one of the finer things in life."
The Home Base of the famous Monster Truck: Grave Digger.
The next day an Easter basket arrives in the mail from Grandma & Grandpa Fisher.
Added to the basket she got from the
neighbors and the one from her baby sitter,
Sasha has enough candy to last for about 2 or 3 months (or if Daddy gets into it,
2 or 3 days.)
Sasha feeds the bunny and models the new dress that came in the Easter Basket.
Then she gets an idea. An awful idea! Sasha got a wonderful, awful idea!
"These bloomers...", she said. "...would make a fine hat."
And then, just like that, they became her new hat.
"What!? It rhymes doesn't it?"
The next day at the mall Sasha played while Grandma & Grandpa shopped at their favorite store.

It was a fun weekend and it was really neat to spend time with Grandma & Grandpa.
"And if you come back to see me I might even give you your earrings back!"
